Have proper breakfast and lunch. Make sure you have a very well balanced breakfast and lunch, then you are not going to feel very hungry before dinner is served, so you won’t be tempted to over indulge.
Don’t overload your plate. It’s not an all you can eat buffet restaurant you are at. it’s time to slow down and appreciate the Thanksgiving harvest. Watch the food that you add to your plate.Try to fill your plate half with vegetables, choose lean cuts of meat. And control the portion.
Chew more, and eat slowly, it can really help you slow down and prevent over indulging in with all of the great food.
Side dish: Make it small. Only eat small amount, there is more food coming up but there is limited space in your stomach. So going small is always heading in the right direction.
Main dish: Choose skinless turkey. When you choose your turkey or goose, leave the skin behind, which will decrease the amount of fat that you can save for dessert later.
Try to choose smaller portions of food that are high in fat. In the traditional thanksgiving menu, we can see favorites such as green bean casserole, mashed potatoes and sweet potato casserole. Many of which may be prepared with canned soup, cheese and cream and topped with fried onions. The best way is enjoying a little bit of everything, and that’s it! Enjoying the variety of foods in smaller portions keeps you going in the right direction. You can’t control what you are served but you can easily limit yourself to a smaller size of helping.
Dessert: single serving, skip the whip. Dessert, for many, is the best part of Thanksgiving dinner. To avoid bringing the entire meals calories and fat to another level, skip that dollop of heavy whipping cream If you can, leave the crust off that pie to further slim down. Of course, the best way is simply skipping the dessert.
