These 6 Foods Make Your Skin Glow

Skin health is important, and healthy skin should be a priority. There are certain foods that can be very good for your skin, here is a list of 6 great foods that help your skin stay clear and bright.

  • Kale and Spinach: These leafy greens help to keep skin young and firm because of the many phytonutrients that are contained within them. These phytonutrients are important when it comes to protecting your skin from sun damage. Spinach, in particular, contains beta-carotene and lutein, which help to retain elasticity. Eating at least three cups of leafy greens each week will help keep your skin young. Add them to salads for a delicious twist on your regular greens.

  • Berries and Citrus: Filled with a wonderful variety of antioxidants, berries also contain fibre, which is important for removing toxins from the body. When toxins are removed, they do not settle in your skin cells and this helps slow the aging process. Citrus fruits contain a high amount of vitamin c, which is a great antioxidant that helps keep collagen production strong and keep skin soft. Berries and citrus fruits are delicious and sweet, and can be added to many dishes or enjoyed alone.

  • Walnuts and Pistachios: These nuts are a good source of vitamins B and E, which help fight free radicals and the oxidation process that leads to aging of the skin and wrinkling. B vitamins also promote good circulation, which gives your skin a younger appearance. Combine nuts with fruits or add them to salads to help balance sugars in the diet and slow digestion.

  • Almond Milk:  This tasty milk made from nuts helps your skin by boosting the production of collagen through boosting copper. Also, almond milk contains manganese, which also helps to protect the skin from damaging ultraviolet rays. Drink almond milk in place of regular milk, add to cereal, or use in smoothies.

  • Apples: The high vitamin C content of apples promotes collagen production to keep the skin glowing and elastic. Also, apples contain copper, which helps with the production of melanin and adds sun protection to the skin. Enjoy apples as a snack or add them to salads or healthy desserts.

  • Sweet Potatoes: With a high beta carotene content, sweet potatoes help to generate new skin cells and keep a healthy glow. Enjoy baked or roasted and get the healthy vitamins you need.

  • Who doesn’t want more youthful, glowing skin? Enjoy these wonderful foods that can be eaten alone or added to recipes and see how your skin starts to glow!
