Directions

Preheat the oven to 350℉ (180℃). Well grease a 9 x 9 x 2 inch baking pan. Set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, mix thoroughly oatmeal, flour, brown sugar, and salt.

Rub the butter into the mixture with your finger tips until a coarse meal forms.

Stir in the applesauce and vegetable oil until well combined.

Spread half of the mixture in the prepared baking pan.

Spread the jam on top.

Sprinkle the remaining dough on top of the jam and lightly pat down with fingers.

Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until lightly brown.

Cut into bars when warm--they will firm up as they cool.

Note: The bars can be kept in an air-tight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week or in the freezer for up to 1 month.
