Pro Tips
- Avoid Overcooking: Slice the beef thinly and cook quickly to keep it tender.
- Marinade Safety: Don’t reuse marinade without boiling it in step 5 to kill any bacteria from the raw beef.
- Heat Control: If the glaze reduces too quickly, lower the heat and add a splash of water to prevent burning.
Optional Variations
- Spicy Kick: Increase red pepper flakes or add a teaspoon of sriracha to the marinade.
- Veggie Boost: Toss in sliced onions or snap peas with the peppers.
- Grain Swap: Serve over quinoa or noodles instead of rice for a twist.
Ingredients
Directions
Combine the soy sauce, honey, ginger, garlic, lemon juice, red pepper flakes, and the beef steak strips in a zipper bag (or another container). Allow to marinate, for 20 minutes or overnight.
Slice the green bell pepper into thin strips and stir-fry in a hot pan over medium heat for about 2 minutes.
Add the beef steak strips, and stir-fry until meat is no longer pink.
Add the marinade juices and 1 cup of water to the skillet and bring to a boil.
Reduce, occasionally stirring, until the liquid is reduced to about ⅓ of a cup, about 3 minutes.
Arrange steak strips over the rice, and drizzle the liquid from the frying pan over all.
Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds if desired.
